Kall8 Allows Businesses to Evaluate Sales Performance and Market More Intelligently

SEATTLE, Wash. - February 7, 2005 - Kall8, a hosted telephone service, offers businesses a powerful tool to determine the return on investment of their advertisements and profitability from associated sales.

“Businesses can make this determination by comparing their own sales information with the information available from Kall8’s call detail and campaign analysis reports,” Kall8 Marketing Manager Bill Johnson said. The call detail reports include information such as the caller’s name, location, telephone number, length of call, and date and time of call. The campaign analysis reports can help businesses determine the cost of each customer call generated by a particular advertisement.

“Businesses don’t have to pay a fortune for sales analysis reports or marketing studies,” Johnson said. “All they need is Kall8, a dial tone, and a computer with a database program or even just a spreadsheet, and they have all the tools they need to accomplish strategies similar to those larger companies employ to hone campaigns and drive up sales.”

Here’s how the Kall8 call detail and campaign analysis reports work: businesses assign specific Kall8 numbers to their marketing or advertising campaigns, one number for a radio ad, another for a newspaper ad, and yet another for the yellow pages, for example. They can also assign specific Kall8 numbers to their Web sites and separate numbers to their direct mail or e-mail campaigns. Kall8 then keeps track of the incoming phone calls, including the name of the person or company calling, the caller’s phone number, from where the caller is calling, and how long he or she was on the phone. That information can be compared with sales data allowing businesses to determine which advertising venues are profitable and getting them their best responses and adjust their marketing strategies accordingly.

“Businesses no longer have to take it on blind faith that their advertisements work,” Johnson said. “They’ll have data that proves or disproves it.”

Kall8’s campaign analysis tool gives businesses the ability to identify the cost of a particular advertising campaign and then determine how much each customer call generated by that advertisement costs. By subtracting that cost from their profit margin, businesses can determine if the campaign is generating profitable business.

“So, let’s say Acme produces widgets and the profit margin on each widget is $10,” Johnson said. “If Acme used the campaign analysis tool and found that it spent $12 to acquire each new customer, then Acme would know to change its strategy accordingly. That’s one example of what the campaign analysis tool can do for businesses.”

Sales managers can also use the Kall8 call detail reports to set meaningful benchmarks and sales targets (time spent on phone call and/or sales per call, for example) for their sales forces, Johnson added. By comparing information from their sales reports with the call detail reports, sales managers can compare orders with the time their sales team members spend on the phone. That can give them a good grasp on how well and how quickly their team members convert calls into sales and how much time is a factor in size of order, he said.

The comparisons can also help businesses determine if callers are ordering. If phone calls aren’t translating into sales, they can use the Kall8 reports to compile callback lists. Then they can call those customers and find out why they aren’t ordering. Businesses could also compile a list of customers who have ordered and call them back a few weeks after their orders are fulfilled to determine satisfaction. That could help businesses develop affinity with customers.

Kall8 is a hosted telephone service offering toll-free and local phone numbers robust with features including routing, reporting, voicemail, faxing, and more. Kall8’s basic cost is a $2 set-up fee and $2 a month service fee, plus 6.9 cents per minute for incoming calls from the contiguous United States and from Canada.

“Kall8 is an incredibly useful tool for businesses considering the functions it offers and its ability to save businesses money,” Johnson said.
